Cadet Foundry — Terms of use

Version 2026-10-11 · Questions: support@cadetfoundry.org

Cadet Foundry is a free community project — the Cadet Foundry project — made to support JROTC instructors and Cadets. It is not a company product. By setting up Cadet Foundry, or using it after setup, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use it.

1. What Cadet Foundry is — and isn't

2. Free during the pilot

Cadet Foundry is free to use. If that ever changes, it will be announced in advance, and nothing you already have will stop working without notice.

3. Who may use it

4. Your data stays with you

Cadet Foundry stores everything on the computer (or USB drive) it runs on. The Cadet Foundry project does not receive, see or keep any student data. The instructor's program and school decide how long records are kept and when they are deleted (Cadet Foundry's End pilot and Delete profile tools help). See the Privacy notice for details.

5. Optional online AI

Online AI is off unless the person who manages the device turns it on with their own key from an outside AI provider. If they do, ordinary Ask questions go to that provider under its terms — read them first, especially about minors' data. Leave it off if you're unsure.

6. Use it responsibly

7. Content

Study cards and lessons cite public U.S. government and military sources, each with its source named. Facts can change: check anything important against the current official source. Public-domain books and official videos keep their original credits.

8. No warranty

Cadet Foundry is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including that it is error-free, always available, or fit for a particular purpose. Keep backups of anything you can't afford to lose.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, the Cadet Foundry project and the people who make it are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for lost data, arising from using or being unable to use Cadet Foundry. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.

10. Changes

These terms may be updated. The version date is at the top; Cadet Foundry will ask you to accept a new version before you continue using it.
